SURFBOARD DESIGN

WAVES FOR CHANGE SURFBOARD AUCTION

I had the privilege of being one of the local South African artists chosen to customise a surfboard for the 2019 annual Waves For Change Surfboard Auction.

Waves For Change is an incredible organisation which "provides a child-friendly mental health service to vulnerable and differently abled young people living in unstable communities. Through connections to safe spaces, caring mentors, and a 12-month weekly Surf Therapy curriculum, W4C gives children skills to cope with stress, regulate behaviour, build healing relationships and make positive life choices."

All proceeds from the auction went directly to the Waves For Change organisation.

This illustration was originally for “Nowhere To Hide”- a zine I did in collaboration with Studio Kronk on the effect humans have on nature. Having grown up with an intense love for the sea, my main concern for this topic was centered on the ocean, its incredible inhabitants, and the desperate need for a change in human mindset, which can only come from education and awareness. I hoped that this illustrations might draw some much-needed attention to this issue.
